Above all, there are two qualities valued in the Southern Comforts conference: good manners and unbridled brutality. The ‘Southern Gentlemen’ that organise the conference’s proceedings encourage a chivalrous approach to the great game, without compromising the extreme violence that makes it so entertaining. Players will shake your hand as they step on your neck. They’ll toast the match in a goblet made from a fallen opponent’s skull. The current title holders are the Angbar Blutoofs who will be snapping limbs with the best of them this season.

The Emerald Chalice has an interesting backstory, it was originally known as... The Chalice... But the history behind its Emerald and green name is a very bizarre tale indeed. The first winners of the Chalice were the Grunk Gorgers a mighty Orc team from the badlands who took the trophy home in the usual Orcy way... However what happened next was particularly odd, the Gorgers placed the chalice amongst their collection of prized items (large bones, broken swords etc) and went about their training for the next season. Due to a Greenskins usual ineptitude to notice anything the Chalice had vanished for many months before a procrastinating Orc noticed it had gone by deciding to count the teams horde of treasurers, "Where's da SHINY ONE!" Little did the Orcs know but the Trophy had been forged with Warpstone, as opposed to Emerald, thanks too a terrible mix up at the Jewellers many years previous and was slowly making it's way to the Under Empire. Within the deep warrens of the Skaven race, a clan of assassins had been ordered to steal and deliver the Chalice too a devious Warplock Engineer. The ratmen had obviously recognised that the trophy emanated powerful Warpstone energies and had decided the rock was large enough to steal - the rest of course was worthless and discarded into an underground stream. Many years later a Tilean fishermen found the Chalice hidden beneath the waves and returned it too the DBL who quickly reinstated it as their Southern trophy, but they weren't stupid enough to make it out of Warpstone again and we have it on good word that it's definitely Emerald - but the damn thing keeps going missing - so we have to wonder?
